hola hola!
first off happy birthday grandpa on thursday! hope you have a great day!
today was probably the one of the hardest pdays physically. we pretty much went rock climbing. we went to la muela and hiked up to the top of all the lava rock and there were tons i mean tons of people up there in groups having prayer sessions and it was actually pretty creepy. after going there today we werent really sure why it was allowed but hey it was fun and probably the last group that will ever go there haha!
this week on martes we had an activity with jennifer! our new investigator which she is awesome and doesnt really know much about jesus so we love teaching her! then we taught english to some of familia santizo we also had our last zone meeting with elder browning.
miercoles we met with brenda and she had a ton of questions and she is becoming one of our great friends! we met with david and he was super happy to meet with us and he was confused why we hadnt been meeting. but then he didnt come to church after promising he was going to so we are gonna give him another break.....also this day was great becasue some members gave us root beer floats at lunch! it was the first time id had root beer in 7 months!
thursday we had another lesson with jennifer and she is progressing. she couldnt come to church because she went to visit her dying grandpa. but hopefully next sunday. then we had a party at a members because elder browning is leaving tomorrow. they made dinner and i alsmost cried when his convert said her last speach to him about how she was so grateful that he brought her the gospel. so awesome!
saturday we visited a crazy guy named noe and we found his house becasue he had painted his name randomlly on his house we had a good laugh about that and also he said oh you guys are from the church of mormonas of latter day saints. also we had the best lunch of ceviches and i loved it! i will be making it a ton for you familia! just you wait. also we met with yomara and henry. henry finally talks to us and he is awesome! he is a less active but we are gonna reactivate him!
well this week was pretty awesome! i hope you all have a great week.
remember to pray everyday and if you ask in faith ye shall recieve. God loves us!

August 4, 2014hola hola!
so lunes we met with reyna and her family, familia santizo. we arent really sure who is who in the family but there are tons of kids and tons of women and a few guys but they are great. they have a ton of preguntas. then we had a fhe with less actives and they fed us dinner with the elders. then that night we planned and their earth started trembling. it was the first earthquake ive experienced that wasnt when i was in my bed usually they are in the early early morning. so even though it was small i freaked out a bit i cant lie. haha
martes we went and made rice krispie treats with brenda and her two kids. she is so awesome. then we had our first lesson with onelia and she is going to start working again so it is gonna be difficult to find her but we have faith!
miércoles we had a great lesson with familia santizo about the word of wisdom becasue monday they wanted to give us coffee and one ofthe guys wants help with his alcohol addiction sowe got to explain that and answer all their questions and told them we were gonna bring them morcaff so they could stop drinking coffee haha.
jueves we had a lesson with carmen and lucia and grecia came with us the returned missionary in our ward. then we visited our neighbor elisa that sells tortillas and its funny because the elders tried to contact her before and said she was cranky and tried to sell them tortillas 3 for 1 quet but its really 4 for 1 quet. haha but to us she was super nice and was giving us food the whole time and the first time we contacted her she gave us like 12 tortillas for free! then we taught sheila about the book of mormon she has been reading and she has so much faith so we love visiting with her.
viernes we taught an english class to investigators. most of the kids in familia santizo came and it was super fun. then we met with brenda and imer and read 3 nefi 11 with them. they loved it and she kept saying que lindo que lindo.
sábado it was elder brownings birthday so we bought cupcakes and a bubble blowing gun for him. he leaves in like 2 weeks then we will have a new zone leader. they also at lunch described myfuture husband becasue apparently elder dalton has a gift. lets just say i may choose to never get married...then we met with carlos and his two sons daniel and melvin. he kept leaving the room the whole time we were teaching and i was super weird becasue he wouldnt say anything he would just leave then wander around and come back. interesting lesson thats for sure!
domingo i woke up sick and was throwing up all night every couple hours. we went to church and i looked white as a ghost but guess who was there! president! and thankfully the nurses so i talked to them and i almost threw up on her and turned green so they sent me home after sacrament meeting. we had to stay in all day so i felt bad for my comp because i was just sipping on gatorade and soup but couldnt keep anything down. the elders came and gave me a blessing and i put on some essential oils and in the morning today i woke up fine! thank goodness becasue being in the house all day is torture!
today we went to lunch with some other sisters in the zone and we went to burger king and it was sooooo good. i love american food. new rule in the mission we can eat inside of restaurants. and we can go to the forbiden walmart once a month with the zone! whooohooo

Monday July 28, 2014hola hola!
can you believe that yesterday i completed 7 months!!!!
by the end of training my new comp i will have 10 months and 9 months in my first area haha half my mission in one area and one ward.....
how insane is that!
well tuesday we had to go to the terminal by the market and i had to leave my dear hermana aguirre there and i cried...we were together for a long time and shes the second mom i sent home. i just keep sending them home i guess.
well then me and hermana feliz walked around xela waiting for the time to go get our new companions! i was soooo nervous and finally they called our names and im with Hermana Gibson from las vegas. her spanish is great already so i dont have to worry! we visited a investigator gaby right after we got dropped off in the taxi and after she met the bishop. gaby ended up stealing our phone and 20 quetz from my wallet. we havent been able to find her since....then we visited david and had a great lesson with him.
wednesday we had our district meeting and we have a new district leader who has been in the zone almost as long as me. we had lunch with a member and it was my comps first in the field. it was with grecia ixchajchal who just got back from her mission in costa rica and is already primary president! then we had an activity with some new investigators oni and lupita with their neighbor damaryse who is less active. then we also had a lesson with reyna and she said she was gonna cometo church on sunday.
jueves we had an amazing lesson with david and we commited him to baptism. he said he knows the church is true and the book of mormon is true and it was just a great lesson.
friday noe my convert showed us where his friends imer and brenda live so we could visit brenda in the day time to get her to open up because she is super shy. we shared a scripture with her and then it was funny before noe left us with her before the lesson, he told her that we dont know spanish and we will try our best to talk to her. it was pretty funny and i had to keep from laughting out loud. some people just think we wont be able to speak no matter how much time you spend with them talking to them in spanish!!! haha but then we visited david to ask what time he wanted his baptism and he said he cant be baptized so thats a bummer. its sad when people know the truth but dont accept it. we are gonna give him some time and not visit him for a while.
sabado we visited an 80 year old woman named anparo that we found in the street. she was funny to talk to becasue wed be reading out of the bible teaching the restoraccion and shed say oh do you believe in the bible? yes this is the biblie....it is? oh si porque dice santa biblia...she was super funny and loved us. then in the night we had a lesson with imer and brenda. imer is funny becasue we invited them to be baptized and he was like claro que si. he wants to give talks, have a calling, and go out with us and preach the gospel. well just become a member haha. he loves the church.
domingo reyna came to church with us. she was the only one of like ten people that saidthey could come. but we were grateful she came becasue she really seemed to enjoy it and she even took notes in the classes. all of our appointments fell through and so we just started contacting a bunch and found some really awesome people that we are excited to teach this coming week even more!
well i hope you all have a great week and stay out of the sun so you wont be a tomato like i am! i even wear sunscreen but everyone keeps telling me im sunburnt. where is my latin blood???
love you all

hola hola
well i have some pretty big news to share! i will be training and i get my companion tomorrow. i am supppper nervous because i dont feel prepared but i dont think i would ever feel prepared!
right now since the weather is super hot in the day and we walk everywhere and its super cold at night i got sick. i feel good i just have a super strong cough that makes me almost throw up. hopefully i dont scare my new companion haha
last monday we had a hermana lunch because the elders went and played soccer and we cant play with elders. we also got our new soccer jerseys that look like team ghana in the world cup.
tuesday we had our last district meeting before changes this week and it was also for the people going home to give their testimonies. i love it. we also had a really great lesson with david in the chapel so it was a good day!
wednesday they called us at 8 to tell my comp she had her last interview with president in 2 hours. she was freakin out because it was supposed to be on thursday and she needed to prepare herself mentally i guess but she wasnt able to....
jueves i got the call in the morning that im training! i guess the lord knows i can do it or something but that means ill be here in garibaldi my first area until october. i might never leave my first area and it might just be mission garibaldi. we also visited yomara and henry and it was the first time that henry came out of their room to talk to us. we found out he has diabetes and it affects his mood a ton. it was the first time id seen him smile becasue honestly before he was so serious and i was scared of him. pero saber!
viernes we had a training meeting with president and the assistants. it made me so nervous! i am hoping that its a latina becasue i dont know what ill do if i have to teach a gringa spanish. but ill let yall know next week who she is and everything!
sabado we didnt have lunch but the elders made us breakfast burritos at the capilla and we made cupcakes in the new oven in the chapel. we told them we put a jalepeno in one of them but forgot which one so it was a fun time watching them carefully eat their cupcakes! it was a good prank and they used it today for pday. made 18 cupcakes for the zone and put jalepeno in one and see who was lucky enough to get it. one elder did and it didnt even phase him becasue the sugar made it not hot. welp we tried haha
we also had a lesson saturday with imer and brenda. friends of my converts noe y flori. they are the cuttest little family with 2 sons jeremias and josue
sunday they came to church with us and they loved it. hermana aguirre is super sad becasue she leaves tomorrow and wont get to teach them. this week she got her camera stollen while we were in an investigators house. we left the room for 2 minutes to say a prayer with a sick daughter and didnt notice it gone till an hour later. she had her 2 flash drives in the ziplock bag with her camera sooo allll of her pictures from 18 months are gone. weve been asking everyone but we cant find it and whoever has it isnt gonna admit to stealing it. so sad and in her last week in the mission.
well i love you all i hope you have a great week!

MONDAY JULY 7, 2014
pues hola hola!
dont worry i am ok! i did feel the earthquake at 5 30 this morning and my comp and i ran to the front door and quickly opened it to stand under the door frame. all of our neighbors were also in their door frames waiting it out. it lasted about a minute or so. it was the 4th earthquake but strongest one ive experienced here and were were scared that this concrete house would fall in becasue we live on the bottom floor of a two story house. we lost power and our water for half of today but its normal here to loose power and water. my legs were shaking so it was hard to tell when it ended but it was an experience ill never forget thats for sure! they say it came from chiapas mexico.
this week we had a multi zone conference with president and it was great except after the second hymn the assistant got up and said that president has chosen a few people to come bear their testimonies and guess who got called up out of 6 people? ME. i was so nervous becasue it was so unexpected and honestly all the spanish just left my head so it was very short and to the point but yeah that was an interesting experience. the new president, president smith is awesome. him and his wife are super excited to be here and they are happy! their son actually served in this mission so they feel very blessed to be here. i will get to talk to him for reals on thursday because we have our 10 minute interviews!
weve been meeting with gerber and bryan and things are going great. gerber came to church with us this week and we took him to the temple on saturday. his brother bryan didnt come to church becasue he went with his parents to the catholic church to investigate becasue he never goes with his parents usually.
evans is good and super open to everything but he is only in town to study during the week and goeshome to the coast on the weekends so he cant come to church but he said he doesnt always so well see if we can get him to come this week.
david is good but man we just need patience with him.
imner is back in our agenda and we are visiting him but its funny becasue sometimes he contradicts himself and doesnt even realize it like the last time he said we were in heaven before this life and with heavenly father and why did one third of the spirits go with satan but then later in the lesson he said he believed thatwe never existed before we were born. what!!! interesting
today we went to the office so my comp could take her english exam and we went and ate mexican food so she can get used to it before she leaves. she goes to the temple thursday becasue it will be closing for remodling or something like that. but yeah i hope you all have a fantastic week and i love you all stay safe!

MONDAY JUNE 30, 2014hola hola!!!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARRICK! holy moly you are 19! te extraño y te quiero mucho
que tengas un bonito día y no chupes la pina solo por ser tu cumpleanos jejeejjee
well this week was good! we had lessons with Gerber and his brother Brian. they are so pilas! we can only ever teach them because their family is impossible to find all together but they are the only two always home! brian cam to church with us on sunday and it was awesome! he is only 15 and he came by himself! how cool is he?!! Gerber would have but he went to the coast so he wasnt in town.
josilin is a new investigator that is great! she was going to come to church with us yesterday but she couldnt because her husband is lets just say a bit controlling. she had to ask permission and he said no. we are hoping she can come next week because her husband said maybe next week he will allow it.
David is doing great. he came to church with us also yesterday so he has been 3 times now. he doesnt have a date yet becasue he just needs a little time. but we are ok with that becasue he is progressing and we know he will be baptized soon. hopefully before hna aguirre leaves on the 24th.
on friday my comp and i completed months. i have 6 months in the mission! and she has 18 months. crazy!!!! the time is going pretty fast right now!
familia relec is good but they didnt come to church but promised that next week they will come. they didnt come because margarita was baptizing her baby into the catholic church. my first real machete in a lesson and i enjoyed it. but we have to drop them if they dont come to church next week and it will break my heart! please come!
at church we had 4 investigators. 3 sat with us. jessica the adventista, brian the catolico and david the evangelica. it was an interesting group.
so with 4 investigators at church we won this weeks part of the tournament of the zone. we are in the finals against las americas zambraasgaard. and if we win 3 pizzas for us! go chiltepes!
we have a new president. president smith but i havent met him yet. they say we will be having interviews with him this week sometime and they are 15 min long. but who knows! i let ya know how it goes.
well sorry i was super lame this last week and didnt take pictures! but ill do better this week.
love you all and have a great day! and week

3 sat with us. jessica the adventista, brian the catolico and david the evangelica. it was an interesting group.
so with 4 investigators at church we won this weeks part of the tournament of the zone. we are in the finals against las americas zambraasgaard. and if we win 3 pizzas for us! go chiltepes!
we have a new president. president smith but i havent met him yet. they say we will be having interviews with him this week sometime and they are 15 min long. but who knows! i let ya know how it goes.
well sorry i was super lame this last week and didnt take pictures! but ill do better this week.
love you all and have a great day! and week

MONDAY JUNE 23, 2014
hola hola! well i just want to start off by saying that im loving this whole futbol thing and i never thought it would be so hard not to watch! in 4 years ill definitely be watching! haha FIFA!!!! anyway this week on wednesday we had a ward activity for the padres of the ward and we made them little cards feliz dia del padre then they had a whole bunch of presentations then a mariachi band came in and we were all like whatttt??? this isnt mexico but alright haha. thursday we didnt have lunch with anyone, so us and the elders decided to eat lunch at the church and hermana aguirre made enchiladas verdes. lets just say they were sooo good and i now have the recipe! haha and we bought some extra jalepenos for after because we are all getting so good at eating chili. i came in second place. i ate three fourths before i felt like i was gonna die. my comp is a champ and ate it all. the elders could only eat half....i might be able to compete with garrick when we are both home...or try to anyway friday we had a lesson with familia hernandez and the dad was finally there! we talked about a lot because he had a ton of questons. we asked if he wanted to be with his wife after this life and forever...no. with his kids after this life and forever....no. we were not expecting that because he has 10 kids and they were all in the room. oops. sunday david and sonia came to church with us and then we all had lunch made by judith in her apt. she was so excited that she got to make us food. she is so amazing i love the woman she is becoming. she truly is changing and has that light that everyone talks about when someone gets baptized its really cool to see. this week since all the soccer craziness the zonies decided to have a zone tournament and last week was who had the most nuevos and we beat the area las americas so we are moving up to the next challenge....investigators in the church with us on sunday! we got this. the winner after three weeks gets 3 pizzas from pizza hut. i taught my comp to say... we are going to win!!!!!! and she added LOSERS at the end. i didnt teach that part haha also this week my comp cut some investigators hair and the grandma who has only done it once in her life allowed my comp to trim her hair. she is 82 and has had the wheelbarrow in the picture all her life. she loves that thing well i hope you all have a good week and im gonna try to stay dry in this rain!!!! craziness! love you!!! and watch soccer for me! gooooooooooolllllll xoxoxoxox hermana woods |

hola hola!!!!
HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!! i just want to thank my dad for being the best and being so supportive and i love you dad! thank you for teaching me all i know!!!!
So this week was pretty good!
tuesday we met with some new investigators then we went to find Henrys mom so we could meet her. Man, they live almost in a different area but it was a beautiful walk haha. she is ok with henry getting baptized and she said that she is going to come to the baptism. then we had a lesson with David and Sonia but i was on divisions with a ward missionary so i got to teach them pretty much by myself becasue my comp was at a different lesson. it was really good and i think my spanish is improving!!!
Wednesday we had our multizone conference with president before he leaves on the 26th. it was really good and i feel blessed we got to have that opportunity. at the end we were about to leave and we were talking to some elders and one asked where we were from. my comp said mexico and i said the united states. he looked at me like i was lying then said noooo i dont believe you. apperently sometimes i look latina and sometimes straight up gringa! who knows!!!
thursday we had a lesson with henry and it was sooo good. he is such a good kid. also we had district meeting and i lead the music for the 4th week in a row. i think its gonna be a joke that never ends but im ok with it haha. then we had a lesson with fabiola a new mom. her baby is 15 days old and soooo tiny. she is really accepting of us and well see if we can get her to progress.
friday was pretty crazy.....at 6 25 ish there was a 10 second earthquake or tremor our beds were shaking and our door was rattling. it was pretty cool becasue it was my first one in my life. my comp was freaking out it was so funny. its something that is normal here becasue we are literally surrounded by volcanoes. and we dont feel most of the earthquakes because we are in the street and they arent huge ones. then later in the afternoon it started raining super hard and the street was literally a river and our feet were soaked because we forgot our boots. dont worry i washed my feet super good that night becasue the water looked like chocolate milk.
saturday HENRY WAS BAPTIZED!!!! it was a great day he was baptized at around 5. here the baptisms start like 45 min late every time.
sunday some people we contacted earlier in the week wanted us to come visit them before church becasue the mom was sick. so we did and found out that they all lied about their names so we have to relearn all the names. thank you!
judith our recent convert walked with us to church and told us about how she knows they are gonna have a lot of problems because of the good decision they made to be baptized and that it doesnt matter becasue she feels happy and she is happy to be coming to church. also her husband anibal had a dream a couple nights ago about us and an old man. he said the old man told him that he sent his daughter...us to help him. well we were both on the edge of tears hearing this. then seeing anibal bless the sacrament this week was soooo coool for us. they are doing sooo good!
today we had a zone lunch for hermana robertsons birthday! and there was another earthquake at 4 am that woke both me and my companion up. wasnt as strong as the other one this week but still strong enough to wake us!
well i hope you all have a wonderful week!
love you all

tuesday we went to a members house and made brownies with our investigators and the elders. it was really fun!
wednesday we made flan with a member and her non member mom because hey my comp is mexicana and knows how to make really good flan! and now i know how to make it!!
thursday we found a new part of the area that we didnt know existed and found some new investigators and are gonna go back this week and do some more door knocking. we also had a lesson with sonia and david in the house of anibal and judith our recent converts haha i love saying that because i loves them! sonia wants to be baptized soooo bad but she cant because her mom thinks she is playing with God since shes already been baptized in a different church. but she is gonna keep coming to church till she gets permission. they think if they keep asking then she will finally say yes!
friday was good until i got sick with fever. that wasnt fun and lasted till saturday night. i dont know why i got it but i havent been sick like that since i was younger!
sunday i ate cow foot soup. and i dont know how i did it honestly. i still didnt have much of an appetite from being sick and then i get a huge bowl of cow foot and nerves. it was like eating cartilage and im glad i didnt puke. one of the elders just looked at me and said in english i dont chew just swallow because i said that i cant chew it. glad thats over and hey i did it!!!!!
today we went to an area in the zone called minerva and with all the zone we had a cook off in companionships of chicken. it was super good and im not sure who one but all the different recipes from all the different countries like peru and ecuador and mexico was sooo fun!
well i hope you all have a good week!

its currently pouring here and has been for about 24 hours now and going strong. this morning we planned to play paintball but it was still raining so we thought theyd cancel it....nope! so we went and played in the pouring rain. fun but nobody could see anything and we were all freezing. well probably all be sick wednesday at our zone meeting. but worth it hahah
tuesday marked my 5 months on the mission! crazy right! it really is going pretty fast right now! already june! what!
well saturday was a gooooooood day. wedding and baptism for anibal and judith!!! weve been working with them forever so it was such a great day. they were both sooo nervous and it was adorable. sidenote: their 5 year old son david has been watching vilolent cartoons and now this last couple weeks has been insane. he walks around punching and screaming! he is out of control. its sad how much tv can affect a kid. during the wedding was no exception. but it was still good. the baptism was good too! noe my first baptism bore his testimony and it was soooo good i almost cried tears of joy! it was adorable and he has such a strong testimony! was a cool experience!
sunday they were confirmed and it was good even though we were like 15 minutes late to church and in the lobby for the sacrament haha. anibal recieved the preisthood also and he is so excited he has all his church clothes and is loving life
so Henry accepted a fecha!!! 14th of june. he has been telling everyone and inviting them haha. he is only 14 so he had to get permission from his mom. we were worried but she said yes and she is going to come. we are sooo happy for him. lessons with him are always the best because the spirit is so strong and when he prays at the end i feel like he is actually talking to god and me and my comp just love it.
well i hope you all have a good week and i love you all

well i just want to start out sharing a scripture. look it up luke 10:8. share with missionaries that dont eat the food given them. dont worry i do haha even if its cow stomach and is like eating pure fat with little tiny hairs on it.....
so tuesday we had our first lesson with a young married couple lidia and cesar. they are really positive so well see what happens tomorrow for our second lesson.
henry left for a month to work in the coast. so that was sad. he was progressing!
wednesday we ate hamburgers!!!! with members. they made them for us gringos since there are 3 of us in the area. with chocolate almond ice cream at the end, i felt like i was back in the states.amazing. also i love platanos! boiled in water and mmmmmmmm
family lopez gomez are getting married and baptized this saturday or next. we need to get the paper work figured out and thankfully they dont have previous marriages so its easier!!! and the lawyer is a woman...should be interesting.
thursday rained cats and dogs. crazy how much rain there is here i love it though because its different!
friday we met franciscas mom after we had a lesson with her. she is 7th day adventist i think thats how it is in english. interesting religion.
first lesson with yomara, she had a baptism date and everything 7 years ago but it fell because she had problems drinking but we are gonna get her back to where she was becasue now she doesnt drink! she is soooo awesome!
saturday i was bit by a small dog at a members house. i dont know why today was different because we visit her once a week but i went to hug the mom and the dog jumped and lightly bit my leg. dont worry i was wimpy no blood or anything it just scared me becasue i was not expecting that!
at lunch me and elder dalton had a chili eating contest, i won. we ate three without water or anything to eat and see who could last the longest! im getting less wimpy with chili
later that night we went to a wedding and baptism for the other area so we could bring sonia our investigator. 2 weddings...the parents and the son and his pregnant wife. then they baptized the family of 8 people! haha calidad!
sunday the pregnant newly wed went into labor in church after her confirmation. at least i hope it was after her confirmation. pero saber!
family lopez and sonia came to church with us and their son david kept attacking me and of course we are in the first bench. he would scream and lunge at me. i guess i have a target on my back. he likes to punch me and pull my hair and put his hand on my mouth and say shhhhh, and his parents do nothing! oh well they came to church so i was content
well i hope all is well with every one of you! im sending love here from guatemala! remember to go to church and remember that its the lords day not ours. we can give one day a week to him and think of all the blessings we can have for it. love you all

hola hola
well i forgot my notes of what i was gonna write about so i will do my best to remember!
this week was the week of the family in our ward and we combined with the other ward that shares our church building. it was really good we got to bring investigators and recent converts. on saturday night they had a cultural night and the elders sang hymns with the guitar...it was ok. haha and the bishop sang and danced by himself on the stage! que pilas! he is awesome and a good singer and dancer. never would have thought. also the first act was hermano us and he sang an eddie vedder song i cant remember the name of it right now but it was in spanish and i loved it. i just remembered singing it with my dad and that was a great reminder!
on wednesday or thursday my comp almost got bit by another two dogs. they were 2 feet from her and i was against the wall. i always seem to find a wall when dogs start to come after us. but yeah that was the longest 2 minutes of my life. we were both shaking and about to cry. my poor comp couldnt move a muscle or they'd attack. finally the owners that watched the whole time called them back. we wont be going back to that area without a member with us.
we had a baptism planned for brandon the 24th but that fell because he needs to come to church. we want converts not just baptisms. his mom is less active so we are trying to reactivate her and help her be a good example to her children!
henry is a new investigator he is 14 and the boyfriend of member...my favorite members. he is really interested and it helps that all the girlfriends family is so supportive. the rest of the investigators are good, familia lopez gomez came to church the 2nd time so that was good! their kids didnt sit down for longer than 1 minute the whole sacrament meeting but other than that it was a good experience.
we went to salcaja today and only to see a laguna that turned out to be just a small pond. oh well we made it fun anyway we went to see a church that is the oldest church in all of central america. we couldnt go inside but we looked through the crack in the door. all i saw was benches and in the front a cross with tons of creepy dolls. it was like a scary movie in there. we all said creepy at the same time haha but yeah the outside is gorgeous! then we went to various stores because they all sold corte! i love it but the kind i like is more expensive. i like the stripes and bright colors. why does it have to be more money?! haha
but yeah this week has been great! i love my mission, i love my crazy experiences and i love learning new things about the gospel everyday. im so grateful that i get to learn the things i have and will learn. i still have a long way to go but thats ok! its already going so fast and i know wont want to leave this beautiful country at the end.
well anyway have a good week! i'll enjoy the buckets of rain here!

yesterday i couldnt write because we logged on and it was pouring rain like normal here and the lightning was insane! and boom all of garibaldi or possibly xela lost power for a couple hours. so yeah we got permission to write today thank goodness
well yesterday was probably the best pday of my life. we went to laguna de chikabal. talk about gorgeous! we rode in a pickup to the top of the volcano and then hiked down like a million stairs to the lake. then we walked all around the whole thing taking pictures and looking at the mayan altars. super cool. the hike up we walked up a muddy river bank from all the rain. it used to be a trail i think. but man we were all dying and my cheeks were super red and everyone was shocked. thats just my face ok!!! i loved it soooo mmuch!!!
i loved talking to you mom and dad for mothers day! i wish it was like 5 hours not just 1! but that was better than nothing thats for sure!
we have a baptism planned the 24th for brandon. he is 11 and his mom is becoming active again in the church. her husband left them to go to the united states and she now has a new guy living with her. they cant get married because she doesnt know where her husband is so she can get divorced. that is the hardest part here. marriages and divorces.
well sorry i dont have much to write but maybe next week!

May 5, 2014hola feliz cinco de mayo!!!!
first of all i am beyond excited for mothers day!!! cant believe its already here!
so this week was crazy! my birthday we went to las roses and had our multizona conf. with elder clark. it was amazing!!!!! he had everyone laughing and it was such a good experience and we all learned a ton. him and his wife both speak spanish so it was awesome. right before they ended they had me and hermana lopez come up so they could all sing to us for our birthdays. it was really cool because i didnt know that he knew. i have great hermana leaders.
then that night we went to familia ramos to have a fiesta for me and hna silvias birthday! they are my favorite members! we had dinner and cake! good good day.
then wednesday i did something i shouldnt have. i ate food from the street. the elders talked us in to it because our lunch appointment fell through and it was one of their investigators who is clean..... never again will i do that. i learned a very valuable lesson. thursday i felt like death and puked three times. the second time was in the street and that was not fun. but i think im good now haha. dont do it!!!!
anyway yesterday we had the opportunity to fast for our investigators and we went out to get investigators to bring to church. we stopped at 3 stops before deciding to just go by familia lopez. we had time to kill so we thought why not. to our suprise they were getting ready for church and had bought their daughter a pretty church dress. i was over the moon excited. i love when i get to experience miracles like this! i cant express how shocked i was because they never would come before and this was their first sunday! ahhhhh
last night we met with connie and silvia. they work in the market sunday and werent able to come to church so we decided to teach them the 10 commandments and focus on dia de reposo. keeping the sabath is hard for them because they work but i hope they will take it to heart how important it is and the blessings we promised them they could have. in that lesson cousin of silvia came his name is imner. he is adventista and so it was kinda fun to talk to him because when we teach silvia she gets it and when he tries to explain something she doesnt get it. teaching by the spirit really does help people understand.
my faith grows when i have the opportunity to teach people and share my testimony and see them understand when they read the scriptures and its like a lightbulb goes on in their minds and it makes sense and they gain testimony. i love seeing all the cool things i get to see in my mission. its honestly a blessing and im learning sooo much and im thankful for it.
well anyway have a great week!

last night we met with connie and silvia. they work in the market sunday and werent able to come to church so we decided to teach them the 10 commandments and focus on dia de reposo. keeping the sabath is hard for them because they work but i hope they will take it to heart how important it is and the blessings we promised them they could have. in that lesson cousin of silvia came his name is imner. he is adventista and so it was kinda fun to talk to him because when we teach silvia she gets it and when he tries to explain something she doesnt get it. teaching by the spirit really does help people understand.
my faith grows when i have the opportunity to teach people and share my testimony and see them understand when they read the scriptures and its like a lightbulb goes on in their minds and it makes sense and they gain testimony. i love seeing all the cool things i get to see in my mission. its honestly a blessing and im learning sooo much and im thankful for it.
well anyway have a great week!

hola!
i dont have changes on the 30th! yayayayayy!!!!!
can you believe tomorrow is my bday?????? crazy! we have to be at the church at 6 in the morning to go to our multizona conference! elder clark is coming to speak to us. cool huh.
well this week on saturday eloina was baptized!!!! it was such a neat experience. before lunch we went to her house and my comp trimmed her hair for her. during the service her and her husband were holding hands and it was so adorable to see them soo happy. one year and then the temple!!! i want to go with them.
friday we took family lopez to the temple. they loved it and it was a cool experience. in the lobby their two children were sooo calm and it just showed how powerful the spirit there is.
this week i got sick so yesterday i took a tiny little nap of half an hour so i could try to get rid of it. i dont have a voice. i sound pretty pathetic and the sun does not help my eyes and nose from running. its not painful its just soooo annoying and i want to be able to talk normal without sounding like a frog or something!
i drank some ginger and honey in hot water because its supposed to help and ive been using a bunch a essential oils but i just use random ones because i dont know which to use. i have a million thank you mom! send me a list of how to use these things!!!!
also this week i got to see the power of the preisthood. we visited a less active mother and her two daughters. she was worried because the youngest wasnt sleeping at night and having bad dreams about a little boy. the dad also had a dream about this boy. the daughter wouldnt sleep at night because she didnt want to see this little boy in her dreams. so we called the elders and they came and blessed the house and gave the little girl a blessing. we went back the next day and the little girl slept and didnt have any bad dreams and neither did the dad. the dad was like we are going to church on sunday. im so grateful for the preisthood.
well have a good week! love you all

Last pday after i wrote we went to taco bell as a zone for having lots of fecha metas and then we played paintball. it was sooo fun. i got some pretty good welts on my side to prove it! my zona is awesome!
well tuesday we had our last lesson with familia lopez before they left for the coast and juan was drunk so it was interesting...we meet with them tonight again and i hope he will come sober.
this week was my first semana santa and i survived!!! its crazy that on wednesday to sunday everyone is gone. like they all go to the coast. it was hard and we knocked doors one street and literally no one was home. its like a ghost town. only eloina was in town of all our investigators. she is going to be baptized on saturday because she received her answer! she is so awesome she reads the doctrine and covenants.
this week nothing much happened so sorry! all the stores close and everyone leaves im glad this week will be normal!
well take care!

first rain!!!! ....
April 14, 2014
hola hola!
garibaldi is good it rained last week and now its sooo hot in the day so the pulgas are back and as bad as ever. i cant imagine what its like for the elders up in the mountains and the rough parts! millions of pulgas because there are sooo many dogs! my comp and i have been cleaning our apt really good to keep them away and the guy that does my laundry is gonna wash all our blankets wednesday! im so excited!
so wednesday we went to the temple as a zone because we met our goal of 14 baptisms in march. we had 18! what what! it was awesome. my first time in spanish i was so nervous but it was so good! the temple is gorgeous i didnt want to leave! probably my favorite temple now.
the other day we had lunch at a members and they have these little tiny chillis here that look like they would be nothin but are spicier than jalepenos. i ate one and didnt swallow it because my mouth was on fire! then i tried a different one and swallowed this one. i cant handle spicy so i cried because it burned going down. im so thankful im not in mexico like garrick i would die. this is all because of peer pressure from the elders and my mexican companion! i know im a wimp but seriously sooo spicy.
this week we had a suprise meeting with elder morales of the 70. it was with all the stake leaders and missionaries. he talked about missionary work and how we are all equal in it and then started talking about marriage and family and all the missionaries in the stake were all like um we are on missions....and have mil años left! haha
things are good with investigators. we are trying to find new ones because the ones we have are pretty slow at progressing and they need some time but we had a first lesson with a woman and her daughter the only thing is she works in the market and we can only meet with her once a week on sundays but she is so nice and they understand my spanish so i love them already haha. we gained their confidence in the first lesson and now we are friends! connie and silvia
also one weird thing happened. yesterday we were teaching an investigator the 2nd time for us but she was in the area book as an old investigator. i got the impression to ask if she would be baptized and good thing i did because she was baptized 6 years ago a member she is just not active. wow why was she in the book as an investigator? i have no clue. that was a strange day. we are investigating the situation to see if she is in the records.
well i hope all is well with all of you!

hey!
so i really enjoyed conference! we had a gringo room here at the church in garibaldi for all the surrounding area missionaries! i only watched one session in spanish on sunday with our investigator.i love english... the power went out because the power is super unreliable here so thankfully they had generators!
speaking of eloina (my investigator) she has a date for her baptism! 19 of this month. she just needs to accept her answer and well be set. she is amazing! and her one year old baby is in love with me, he just stares and then blushes when i look at him. weve decided he is my boyfiend i just have to wait like 20 years for him...haha jokes! dont worry.
friday we painted brendas house with limestone powder and water. i tried not to breathe it in! it was with the zone leaders... so of course by the end i was soaked with water and paint....elders...haha it was way fun though.
lately we have been going to different parts of the area and man there are sooooo many dogs. and you never know if they will be mean or not...sketchy.
weve been working with a family and hopefully they will be baptized soon. its a bit difficult at times because the wife cant read and she doesnt like to talk a lot. but shes getting more and more brave everytime.
well today we played baseball as a zone and it was awesome! none of us played much baseball before the mission or in my case at all so it was kind of pathetic but fun.
im loving the weather its been sooo hot but the rain starts next month soooo i better get prepared!
also transfers are the 30th and i really hope i dont have to leave the day after my birthday...pero iré y haré lo que mande el senor!

Hola Hola
So im back in Garibaldi with my new comp Hermana Aguirre from Mexico! she is from distrito federal. she is such a sweetheart and works really hard and im learning a lot. she likes to contact in the streets so im learning how to do that because my last comp didnt like to do that, we did it like one time. but anyway she entered the ccm also december 27th but in 2012. so we entered the same day crazy right. she has 3 months left on the 27th and i have 15 months left. haha ella tiene lo que a mi me falta. i dont know why i think that is so funny but i guess its the little things in life for me.
By the way i was super impressed when mom said mija in my last letter! learning spanish there? awesome! but yeah here things are pretty good its just super hot this week. we are super close to the sun up here in the mountains so i have to slather on the sunscreen to not burn. crazy how it went from so cold to hot and then the rain comes in may. i hope im prepared for that.
so yesterday was not my day. i almost got attacked by 2 giant dogs and one chihuahua. we were going to brendas new house and went up the wrong alley driveway thing and 2 dogs ran at us and we hit the wall with our bags ready to hit them. man im so glad they stopped. scarrryyyy. then we found brendas house and visited with her, then her son brought her chihuahua in and it hates me. i was sitting on the bed and it bit the back of my skirt. and barked at me. but yeah i dont like dogs anymore....
Brenda is good! im hoping her baptism will be this saturday because last saturday and yesterday was stake conference.
this past week we found a promising new investigator. jose. he is so cool. he literally has nothing and i just want to buy him food clothes shoes and a bed and blankets. this part of the mission is hard. i just want to give people everything.
anyway things are good here! just trying to learn spanish and love people with all my heart! that parts super easy because people here are so nice.
with love

Soooo tomorrow i go back to garibaldi! yaya i am so excited to visit everyone there again my investigators! Recent converts and less actives that i have grown to love. recent converts at church were all asking me when i was coming back to visit them or asking why i hadnt been to their houses and i had to reassure them this week id get to them. haha, anyway the other day we went back to my apartment and cleaned it and sprayed some strong stuff for pulgas so hopefully that helps when i go back! its always soooo dusty in my apt so there was a lot of dust that came in under the door from the street while i was gone. sweeping everyday is definitely a necessity.
sorry my spelling is horrible already. wow. this week has been a lot of english so i will be going back to spanish tomorrow and its so bittersweet! being in a trio is so fun we have the best conversations and i feel so comfortable around them. except we have all been sick with colds and working in 2 areas is not ideal when you are sick. i love to sleep at night. my sleep is so important to me! going to bed at 10 30 is not a problem for me! before the mission that was so early now i wish i could go to bed at 8!
this week i had my first interview with president! he came to our zone meeting and met with each of us. it was good and i was so nervous before for no reason he is so nice! i wonder how the new pres will be like in a couple months!

hola hola!
so i have had a pretty eventfull week. i found out that my new companion wont be coming to my area till cambios on the 17th or 18th i cant rememeber the date. but i am currently with the hermana leaders in my zone. they are awesome. there is an extra bed and desk in their apt so all is well. and in their area jardines there is no fleas! i am in heaven until i go back to garibaldi with my new comp. i just want to know who is is gonna be! my temp comps are hna janssen from west jordan and hna castaneda from belice i am definitely gonna visit her after the mission! where she lives is gorgeous. she speaks english as her primary lanuguage but has always spoken spanish too. its awesome and they are way nice to me and take care of me a lot. im gonna be so sad to leave them! well things are good and its been really cold and rainy a lot. i carry my umbrella with me everyday because the weather is super random. we are getting to the time of year when it rains hardddd like at least four times a day. im super nervous to walk thought rivers in the streets but it will be an adventure. i got hna davilas old umbrella because the rain is too powerful for the wimpy normal ones i brought from home. crazy right. oh when hermana davila left i cried like a baby. my mom left! haha i mean we had our differences but i really did love that girl like a sister. my first comp in this crazy thing we call a mission. she taught me a lot and she was known in my mission for having a lot of baptisms. i mean i had 3 with her in one month. and she had 2 the week before i came!
so the other day we were at an investigators house and they were talking about learning english and the daughter said she didnt understand why she was tired all the time and i was like hey i feel the same way! like why am i soooo tired all day long but its because i am constantly translating in my head from spansh to english and from english to spanish! all day everyday wears you out for reals. i am so happy i am not the only one.
also i have had a cld all week and i am finally getting over it. i thought it might be allergies so i took some allergy meds and on the box it says may cause drowsiness.....yeah i didnt read that till i got home that night and the whole time i was wondering why in the heck am i wanting to fall asleep in lessons like what is going on with my body. i had never felt so sleepy in my life. my comps and i laughed real hard after that. never again am i gonna do that! always make sure its non drowsy!!!
i am so grateful for my mission. its hard and sometimes i dont know whats going on but i know it will all be worth it. i am so blessed to be born in the gospel and i am so blessed to be able to teach about jesus christ and his true church. i love these people and i love to see the gospel change lives. i want to cry everytime i see noe and flori my converts at church participating and answering questions. its amazing. i cant wait to go to the temple with them next febuary as they are sealed as an eternal family. ahhh i wish i could express how happy it makes me.
anyway i love you!!! thank you for your support and your letters it helps a ton

hola hola from xela!
today i dont have much time to write its been quite crazy. its my comps last day so she and her ex comp hermana something went to san cris something i cant remember the name and me and her ex comps comp hermana lopez who is awesome! went to xela central where the park is. i mailed a package home today so i hope you get it soon and love it! i also bought some more things in the market that i will be sending in my next package for dads birthday! happy birthday dad! i hope you have a great day! so yeah tomorrow i get a new companion! i am so nervous because what if she doesnt teach me what i need to learn! i need a good madre. i feel bad because my comp is soooo sad to leave and she doesnt want to. its crazy that the fourth marks one month in the field for me! like garrick said in his email i feel like ive been here foreverrr but also like its been 3 days. missions are strange that way. in the market i seriously wanted to buy everything. i love the colors and the fabrics of everything. its gonna be bad when i come back with suitcases full of guatemalan stuff.....haha.
so saturday we had a baptism for an 8 year old and her family is kind of inactive and the missionaries have been after her to get baptized because she is almost 9 and finally the mom allowed it. in the past she always said they didnt have time but when we asked this time she asked sharit the daughter what she wanted. she wanted baptism. it was great she was at church the next sunday and everything. eloina is great shes been to church 2 times now. it really helps that all the family is lds but her and her husband really helps her. she is evangélica so she is kinda tough but hopefully she keeps reading the book of mormon and praying. i love that woman she is awesome.
im gettin bit more and more and more by fleas. i think i am slightly allergic because the get pretty swollen sometimes and man on my feet and hands well everywhere really, my legs my arms my stomach....they itch like crazy. i am so grateful that we dont have fleas like this in idaho. i guess if we did though wed be accustomed to it like they are here. only we missionaries get bitten! there are just so many dogs and i get so sad when i see them limping around or ganging up on one. its so scary when they chase you....jk they didnt chase me, just walked behind us barking all mean and i was so scared thankfully the elders were there though.
love always

so saturday we had a baptism for an 8 year old and her family is kind of inactive and the missionaries have been after her to get baptized because she is almost 9 and finally the mom allowed it. in the past she always said they didnt have time but when we asked this time she asked sharit the daughter what she wanted. she wanted baptism. it was great she was at church the next sunday and everything. eloina is great shes been to church 2 times now. it really helps that all the family is lds but her and her husband really helps her. she is evangélica so she is kinda tough but hopefully she keeps reading the book of mormon and praying. i love that woman she is awesome.
im gettin bit more and more and more by fleas. i think i am slightly allergic because the get pretty swollen sometimes and man on my feet and hands well everywhere really, my legs my arms my stomach....they itch like crazy. i am so grateful that we dont have fleas like this in idaho. i guess if we did though wed be accustomed to it like they are here. only we missionaries get bitten! there are just so many dogs and i get so sad when i see them limping around or ganging up on one. its so scary when they chase you....jk they didnt chase me, just walked behind us barking all mean and i was so scared thankfully the elders were there though.

hola hola from cela!
things are great! we had a baptism this last saturday for jose efrain! it was beautiful for reals. he is the ideal investigator. he has people read him the bom because he cant read. but it doesnt stop him. his sister who is married to a less active is our new investigator! she is really into the plan of salvation because they have a one year old baby boy and she loves her little family so much. she came to the baptism and the confirmation on sunday with the whole less active family. we teach her wednesday so im excited.
my spanish is improving haha it just depends on who im talking to! my comp speaks slow so it helps a lot. but when people speak fast forget it haha.
yesterday we were in the park and we contacted a family...it was fun i just wish i had more spanish, thats my roadblock. poco a poco...i say that every single day.
the rest of our investigators are hard to get to church on sunday...they disapear so it makes my comp sad because she leaves the 6th of march. im so nervous to find out who my new comp is. i honestly want a latina because it will help with my spanish but whatever happens happens.
the other day it was my turn to talk to the district leader and tell him the datos of the day. i said yeah this is hailey.....ooops i still havent gotten used to the whole hermana woods thing completely. he laughed and was really nice about it. me and my comp couldnt stop laughing...well this week was good so until next week!

this week went by super fast. i was writing you last week, blinked and it was already saturday again. crazy stuff. i have been on my mission for sooooo long its crazy. i flew in the 14th of october, so a few days ago i hit 4 months in mexico and 5 and a half total. im almost getting used to the food. this week we ate chicharon, or boiled pig skin soup, and cow liver twice. im almost pro at eating the chicharon. its actually not too bad when its deep fried. kind of like chips. super bowl parties when i get back!!! speaking of food, javier and his wife taught us how to make the absolute best red and green salsas! i really want to learn how to make tortillas de harina. or flour. i keep having dreams in spanish. its pretty cool but i miss english. i can barely speak it anymore. i actually have to think about it. thats what happens when youre one of the only 2 gringos in your zone. today we find out about cambios so i guess ill let you know next monday lo que pasó. take care.

it was about a four hour bus ride to xela on he curviest roads! it was insane. we got to the mission home ate lunch then met with the president. our comanions came and one by one he called us up to assign us to a comp. i was soooo nervous because i didnt know where id be going. so crazy. im like 5 minutes from the mission home! short taxi ride to our apartment. haha its a bedroom right when you walk in and a kitchen and bathroom in the back . super cute. i love these people here even though most of the time i have no clue whats going on. my zone leaders are awesome. elder bloom from arizona and elder rodriguez from mexico. we eat lunch all together at members houses everyday. i havent gotten sick yet and i am so happy about that. its weird because i was sick all the time in the ccm. like after every meal my stomach hurt. here in the field. nope! i definitley get lots of stares here being a white girl. like everyone stares at me. im getting used to it though. they all love my crazy hair haha. ill write more next week i dont have a lot of time because we played paintball today. i am taking lots of pictures so enjoy!

so this week has been the longest ever!!!! i had to wait till today to email!!!
elder cooks talk was good it was way scary to sing in spanish to all latinos....we sang soy un hijo de dios i am a child of god. i love this song in spanish.
soooo i leave tuesday for the field! im so nervous im definitely going to cry a lot especially when i have to say goodbye to my companion hermana carlisle and my teachers and eventually to the two elders i came with elder doty and elder elison. they are my good good friends.
this week me and hermana carlson have been sick quite a lot. the food just does not sit well and makes us nausaus. so yeah we take a lot of tums...tmi? lo siento. haha
the other day we had to go outside and do street contacting and literally everything i have learned leaves me when i am put on the spot. its bad. our teacher had to take over so we could get the guys information and give him a book of mormon! i wrote my testimony in it so that was one plus!
we have a new president and his wife... i love them sooo much! i loved the old ones but these people are just sooo loving excited to see us and they have us in their apartment to put our feet up and eat brownies while they teach us on sundays! they are just awesome!
we got two new sisters last week and they are cool both from byu with parents that are professors and they never knew eachother! crazy.
we had to learn how to teach about the law of chasity in spanish this last week. my new teacher hermano hernandez made me teach the lesson to 12 latino elders in espanol. talk about awkward but it was good practice i just didnt like some of the words i had to use...even in spanish its no esta bueno. hermano hernandez is probably like 2 inches taller than me but he is the funniest guy i have ever met. he is awesome. he is like so racist towards mexicans so he thinks that me and garrick should be enemies. because he is in mexico and guatemala is better. dont worry i dont have any of the same feelings he does garrick!
temple is closed this week so weve not been able to go. sad!
also i have to sleep on the top bunk now and i am scared for my life every night! i need a railing!
yesterday we took a field trip to get my visa signed! it was way easier than i thought it would be and all i had to do was sign my name and smile for a picture.
well i love you all

hola hola!
its crazy that ive been gone almost a month! time is flying by! but then the days feel so long and i cant wait to go to bed at night! so much info im learning my brain just gets so tired. so the latino group is leaving tomorrow and there will be just us four in my district left. more missionaries will be coming on wednesday so we wont be alone long.
we have a devotional on wednesday with Elder Cook!!!! its crazy that he is coming! i am pretty excited! except my district of four has to sing the special musical number because we are the only ones who have time to prepare. talk about scary! also we get a new ccm mission president on tuesday. lots of changes here at the ccm. only 2 more weeks here! then im off to quetzaltenango!
i had to give a talk on sunday in spanish! it was a solid 2 minutes and all written down. it was about the atonement! all the latinos were so nice to me about it! they are so patient with us!
so the latino elders here are obsessed with us three white missionaries they just stare all the time and ask for our emails and its super awkward. like what are you gonna write me i cant speak spanish yet....haha its funny. i love all these people though! they always make fun of us in high voices ahhaha. we have to tell them in spanish to close their hearts! cerrar sus corazons
our teachers are super protective of us and when the latinos swarm around us they hurry us away, and tell us to be careful...haha we are like zoo animals
classes are good its kind of conflicting though. they tell us the most important thing is to learn about the gospel and how to teach and to open our mouths and teach by the spirit even if we have to say something in english but if we speak in english they dont respond or say como. its kind of frustrating sometimes but ill live haha. grammar is so hard!!!
i love my district of four people! we have the best time! tomorrow we get to go to walmart and the mall with our teachers. it will be nice to go on a field trip. i love the way people drive here! it facinates me and its like im in a movie because its so crazy you miss hitting people and other cars by a tiny bit!
i cant imagine leaving the mtc now because i have been here so long! at least when i leave i will be leaving with the two elders i came with. my companion will be all by herself when she leaves in four weeks. i cant imagine doing that!
thank you so much for writing me everyone! i love hearing from you!

Hey everyone
this week has been crazy! its crazy how cold i get here and the weather is perfect! everyone tells me how cold Quetzaltenango is! i guess i'll find out! So two new sisters got here on wednesday and they are pretty cool. one of them got switched to the two week program so sister Carlson is now my real companion! It's weird having a companion...i got kind of used to walking around by myself so it will be a change for sure! she moved into our district and now there is four of us! craziness. elder doty reminds me of garrick so much and i laugh way to much in class. he is a little adhd. funniest kid though.
last week we went to the map it was super windy as you can see in the lovely pictures taken of me and it was amazing i got to see where ill be spending my time in the mountains. the mountains are shaped like cones sooo steap.
they say it'll be easy to loose this weight carlos the chef puts on everyone. thank goodness. they food is good we have random food everyday. breakfast is usually eggs and some kind of beans and a sweet chilly sauce. but its always different every day. lunch and dinner is either native like food or hamburgers or pasta. and we get so many pastries that you cant help but eat because they are all made from scratch. so yeah i will be eating as much good food as i can while it lasts!!!!!
At the market i bought a skirt that is super sweet it wraps around and ties but yeah its pretty awesome. and i bought a little carving from the cutest little old man and some post cards that i will be sending home! everything is so cheap here and its amazing.
i love my teachers here they are awesome! we learn a lot and they are so in tune with the spirit it blows my mind. we went to the temple for the last time before it closes for cleaning. not sure if we will get to go back but hopefully!
i really miss the last group of latinos that was here. this new group just doesnt have as much personality! its sad to think i wont see most of them again in this life they were amazing!
que en el mundo. all the americans say that and none of the latinos have any idea what it means....it translates for us to what in the world. we even have our teacher hermano chavez saying it. its hilarious! i dont want to leave here! i get so stressed out thinking i have so little time here and i know so little spanish like whenever people talk to me i freeze up and cant remember what i have learned...oops haha. i love this place though i might never come home! just kidding i will dont worry but seriously its so pretty here and perfect weather and i love it. happy late birthday mum! i hope you are enjoying hawaii....im pretty much in paradise too without the beach.
sorry i cant write more! love you all

We are the Pitchers and serve as Temple missionaries here in Guatemala. We were also asked to serve in the CCM(MTC). We have been blessed to know these two beautiful Hermanas. They are wonderful. Be proud of them, we are!
Hola!
Week two---so things have pretty much been the same around here because all we do is go to class and eat and repeat. going to bed at 10:30 is honestly not early enough! sundays are the longest because we have multiple videos and firesides galore! i hope i spelled that right... um so yesterday as you know was fast sunday and man! i got up in my branch and was gonna do it in spanish until i totally got confused and said...i know that jesus christ and god...thats it. i just finished in spanish because man its scary and thankfully everyone is so patient! i am gonna be soooo sad when everyone leaves tomorrow. they are all headed off to their mission and that leaves 7 of us nortes in the ccm. until more come wednesday. the word in the halls is that there will be 2 hermanas from the states and thats it. they will probably be in our district because who would be the district leader of 2 girls? the groups keep getting smaller its insane. we will split up for classes but meet to plan and other stuff like sports. tomorrow we get to go to see a giant map of guatemala its in 3D i guess. sounds pretty cool. ill let ya know. we also get to go to the market. and for half an hour we get to buy stuff! yay! its gonna be great getting out of the ccm for a day! fresh air and sunshine:) last week we went to the temple and it was awesome but man its tiny. like i didnt think it was even possible to be that tiny...in my zone there is one guy from new zealand and he is samoan and i love his accent he is hilarious and half the time wears his lava lava. there is another guy from brazil and he speaks portuguese and thats it. poor guy has to learn spansih and english because his companion is amercan and hes going to like el salvador or something. i cant imagine how tough it is for him! sorry i dont write much but honestly there is nothing really going on here that is that different. ill have more once the new people come hopefully! well thank you for believing in me! sorry about my spelling its almost like now i cant speak spanish or english....not good!

Hola Hola!
things are crazy here! lets just say the ccm is not very organized sometimes! i flew into guatemala with two elders and they are now my companions and district! three people in my district and no companion. not quite what i was expecting but its alright. there is only one other non latina missionary and she is from utah hermana giles, she leaves in two weeks so hopefully they send more the next group! which i hear is only two missionaries.... haha spanish is kinda hard...but i love talking to the hermanas in my room and that i eat lunch with. some of them know a little english so we can communicate! i cant really form full sentences yet but i point at things and say words i know....funny stuff. the first morning in the ccm i woke up so easily but the second day i didnt hear my alarm and i had to be shaken to wake me up! the first day here was theeeee longest day of my life. being up for 48 hours can do that to you. glad that first day is over though! it was crazy overwhelming and everytime someone asked me questions about me i just had to hold back the tears! so emotional haha. we have started teaching our first investigator manuel and he works on the computers in the building. he is in college and is friends with a teacher here. its kinda hard teaching him in a threesome companionship but we make it work somehow. everyone here is always where is your companion because i am sometimes alone and i have to tell them why so i dont get in trouble...no companero. i showed some of the hermanas my pictures from home and they were pretty much like whoa you were so pretty why dont you look like this anymore...because i dont curl my hair anymore thats why. haha they loved my long curled hair. i guess im ugly now!!! they also think we have a ghost because we forgot to shut the window and the air kept slamming the door shut when people would get up in the middle of the night. me and hermana giles my companion at night have tried repeatedly to tell them that no the wind did it because we left it open! craziness. they think its the spirit of a little boy named ricardo...hahah they crack me up. i like my teachers and the food. they feed you sooooo much here and it has all been way good. one day we got tortillas beef rice and the biggest pile of guac i have ever seen. it was amazing.
love you
pray for me to learn spanish! and my memory to help me......

things are crazy here! lets just say the ccm is not very organized sometimes! i flew into guatemala with two elders and they are now my companions and district! three people in my district and no companion. not quite what i was expecting but its alright. there is only one other non latina missionary and she is from utah hermana giles, she leaves in two weeks so hopefully they send more the next group! which i hear is only two missionaries.... haha spanish is kinda hard...but i love talking to the hermanas in my room and that i eat lunch with. some of them know a little english so we can communicate! i cant really form full sentences yet but i point at things and say words i know....funny stuff. the first morning in the ccm i woke up so easily but the second day i didnt hear my alarm and i had to be shaken to wake me up! the first day here was theeeee longest day of my life. being up for 48 hours can do that to you. glad that first day is over though! it was crazy overwhelming and everytime someone asked me questions about me i just had to hold back the tears! so emotional haha. we have started teaching our first investigator manuel and he works on the computers in the building. he is in college and is friends with a teacher here. its kinda hard teaching him in a threesome companionship but we make it work somehow. everyone here is always where is your companion because i am sometimes alone and i have to tell them why so i dont get in trouble...no companero. i showed some of the hermanas my pictures from home and they were pretty much like whoa you were so pretty why dont you look like this anymore...because i dont curl my hair anymore thats why. haha they loved my long curled hair. i guess im ugly now!!! they also think we have a ghost because we forgot to shut the window and the air kept slamming the door shut when people would get up in the middle of the night. me and hermana giles my companion at night have tried repeatedly to tell them that no the wind did it because we left it open! craziness. they think its the spirit of a little boy named ricardo...hahah they crack me up. i like my teachers and the food. they feed you sooooo much here and it has all been way good. one day we got tortillas beef rice and the biggest pile of guac i have ever seen. it was amazing.
love you
pray for me to learn spanish! and my memory to help me......

So I got on the plane and made it here alive! It was a crazy flight! I sat between two guys that stole the armrests so I didnt get much sleep:( they let me take a náp today and it feels like the longest day of my life partly because I've been up for sooo long! We got picked up at the airport which was so confusing for me because of my - no espanol, but they MTC driver found us and succeeded to put all our luggage in his tiny car! I honestly dont know how it all fit! Oh my word the drivers here are insane, I think I saw almost 3 motorcyclist loose their lives becuase they zip in and out sooo fast! Well I was a little overwhelmed being here at first but its really growing on me! I really like that we have been in spanish class all day long ;) Food is good but they give you so much and you have to eat it! Have to go
