hola hola
This week was great! My new companion is Hermana Rodas from Honduras too! She had been living here in Guatemala for the past 2 years before her mission in Peten. which is a place I would love to visit someday because its gorgeous there I hear! We get along pretty good and its funny because we were in the same zone in Huehue but never in a million years thought we would be put together!
So Tuesday we had transfers and the zone leaders in our area are now in trio, 2 gringos and a latino, so its pretty fun. My comp actually knows a lot of English which is cool and sometimes she suprises me by just responding in English and Im like whoa how did you learn that? and its fun because we can talk in English to get out of weird situations! Its fun helping her learn.
We have been contacting a bunch especially with the Easter video we had. W’e were just like hey we have a 2 min video we’d love to show you about Jesus Christ. I love it. This was probably the best semana santa known to man because no one left San Juan really. Last year in Xela it was horrible because no one was home and they all went to travel or to the coast, but here in San Juan they just live it up here. The Catholics go all out with parades almost everyday and they fill the streets with painted sawdust on Friday in forms of pictures like Christ and cool designs.
We also got to contact a pastor of church called the Living Grape Juice, so that was cool. He was super excited to talk about THE WORD, hes a little insane but probably the nicest pastor i’ve ever talked to and the only one that hasnt wanted to contend. We will pass by this week to see if he read the pamphlet we left him.
Saturday and Sunday was the best because it was conference! We went to Garibaldi where it was broadcasted in Spanish but I got to go to the GRINGO ROOM for 2 of the 4 sessions. I love gringo room because we get to watch it in English! Alll the elders and Hermanas were counting how many times marriage and family was mentioned and most of the elders were ticked because they were reminded they still have like a year or more left. pobresitos. It was cool though because I watched conference in the same chapel last april so it brought a lot of memories back and I got to see a lot of people from my first ward here in the mission and thats always the best.
I loved so many of the talks given in conference and I’m so thankful for the chance to be able to watch conference! I have definitly gained an appreciation for it on my mission! .... even though I missed out on the family tradition of crepes, thanks dad for eating my share! jaja
well I hope you all have a great week and beware of dogs because they are unpredictable. I hope I like dogs when I get home, because here not much....
