hola hola
esta semana we learned to make recado de habas which are lima beans. i loved it! who would have thought. our investigator carmen taught us how to make it with her family. they are so sweet!
later in the week we taught her again and wow she was so attentive! taking notes and everything. its so cool to see when God touches someones heart.
we had a noche de hogar with familia rodriguez and it was super fun! we brought some members with us and the bishop came for the first few minutes to invite david to the activity the men were having the next day. we found out he went and brought a friend and got to ask a lot of questions about the church to our ward mission leader and they all went to the hot springs! sounded fun!
we visited juana and leslie a lot this week and we even took the zone leaders with us on thursday. it was a weird lesson. leslie had a seizure and it was so scary. i happens all the time i guess but still!!!! the next day we went back and juana broke our hearts. for reals we were both praying so hard during that lesson. what happened was she refuses to pray about anything. she prays but she wont ask God any questions because she feels she is questioning his power. she wont accept the book of mormon because she feels that the bible is the only book she needs. i asked how she came to know it was true. she said because she just did so i asked its because youve read it right? and she was like yeah....vaya. but thats just the thing you need to read the bom and pray to know its true. but yeah she just isnt ready right now. we have to leave her for a while and it breaks my heart. i just love her and leslie.
saturday morning we had a meeting with an ex missionary and our whole zone. it was interesting....because he was first of all dressed in street clothes a deep v neck and a gold chain. didnt look like a rm at all and has a lot of really strange ideas and not sure what the point of the meeting was because no one liked it but yeah...jaja awkward!
so on sunday i had to give my first talk in my mission. i was going strong with 10 months and never having to speak just an occasional testimony but yeah the bishop called us thursday to tell us we were speaking on sunday. the topic is obviously missionary work. la obra misional. we arrived on sunday with our talks and told the bishop we prepared 7 minutes each because he wanted 10 each. so he announced that hermana woods would be speaking 7 min and hermana thompson will also be speaking 7 min. he is so funny. i actually pulled of 10 minutes dont know how but when i was walking away from the stand he whispered to me that i spoke exactly 10 minutes! whooohooo. i was so nervous but it wasnt too bad. now i have a talk written if the ask me in my next area!
familia rodriguez couldnt come to church again this week because they had to go sell in the market. its funny because here the markets biggest day is sunday but everyone knows the bible by memory almost but dont remember where it says that we shouldnt work on the sabbath. blows my mind.
today we had a water ballon fight as a zone and the elders all dumped buckets of water on us! then we went to a members house for lunch and on the way back the bus was super full so the elders were hanging on from outside the bus. it wouldve been fine but the bus driver was insane and i thought multiple times the bus was gonna fall on its side but it was a great adventure!
but anyway i have to go but i hope you all have a great week and stay safe!
love you all
